You’ve probably heard of stoner films like “Harold and Kumar go to White Castle” and “Pineapple Express.” Now, there are TV shows based on cannabis, too.
If you’re looking for some weekend binge-watching centered around your favorite plant, we’ve got you covered. Here are five infused TV shows we at GreenState are streaming right now. Whether you’re a reality TV fanatic or love a foreign drama, there’s something for everyone.
1. Chopped 420
For fans of cooking competitions, “Chopped 420” is a twist on the fan-favorite reality show, “Chopped.” In each episode, four budding chefs create CBD- and THC-infused dishes, vying to be crowned the winner.
Hosted by comedian Ron Funches, the show premiered in April 2021. There is currently one season, with four episodes out.

The show has yet to be renewed for a second season, but it’s not been canceled and received a strong rating of 7.4/10 on IMDB, showing it was popular among viewers.

2. MalaYerba
Titled after the Colombian slang term for marijuana, the drama series “MalaYerba” follows three young entrepreneurs seeking to capitalize on the legalization of medical cannabis in the South American country.
As the trio — Félix (Sebastian Eslava), Ignacio (Juan Pablo Urrego), and Mariana (María Elisa Camargo) — work to beat out the competition with their company, KannaLab, journalist Lola (Carolina Gaitan) aims to discover a dark truth behind the company.

The Spanish-language series premiered in October 2021, and there are currently 10 episodes out. The makers have yet to confirm a second season, but with a 7.4/10 rating on IMDB, the series has received praise from viewers and may well return with more episodes.

3. Cooked with Cannabis
For cannabis foodies, Netflix’s “Cooked with Cannabis” is another mouthwatering show where the heat is on in the kitchen. Three chefs compete for a $10,000 prize by wowing and co-hosts Kelis and Leather Storrswith and guest judges with their cannabis-infused dishes.
“Cooked with Cannabis” had a fitting release on April 20, 2020 (4/20). There is currently one season with six episodes out. The series has not been canceled but has yet to be renewed for a second season.
The show received a rating of 6.6/10 from viewers on IMDB but fared better with critics, earning a rating of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.

4. Growing Belushi
Jim Belushi is known for many things — including acting, comedy, singing, and now working as a cannabis farmer. The reality series “Growing Belushi” follows the renowned Belushi and his family as they farm cannabis in Oregon, where the plant is fully legal.
“Growing Belushi” gathered mixed reviews, with an overall rating of 6/10 on IMDB. Loyal fans recently celebrated the release of season two, which premiered on January 19, 2022. Season one of the series first premiered in August 2020 and ran for three episodes.

5. Family Business
French comedy “Family Business” follows Joseph Hazan (Jonathan Cohen) as he converts his family’s failed kosher butcher shop into France’s first marijuana coffeeshop when cannabis is legalized in the country.
Other starring actors in the series include Gérard Darmon as Gérard Hazan, Julia Paiton as Aure Hazan, Liliane Rovère as grandmother Ludmila, Olivier Rosemberg as Oliver, Ali Marhyar as Ali Benkikir, and Louise Coldefy as Clémentine Cendron.
The series first premiered in June 2019 and has three seasons with six episodes each — the latest which premiered on October 8, 2021. As Netflix announced the release of season three, it was referred to as the “final season,” meaning the show has wrapped up.
“Family Business” has been well received by viewers, receiving a rating of 7.4/10 on IMDB.
