Festive green weed drink recipes to try for St. Patrick’s Day

Green weed drink recipes

The world turns green as St. Patrick’s Day rolls around. Towns have parades, bars host parties with dyed beer, and people bring out their best green garb. The Cali sober crowd may feel left out, as many like to cheer with alcoholic beverages this time of year, but that doesn’t have to be the case anymore.

Weed drinks have become commonplace in the state-regulated markets as well as the hemp-THC world, which means almost everyone can legally obtain some form of cannabis beverage. While those who enjoy suds can partake in green beer, stoners can now enjoy a green weed drink alongside them.

These green weed drink recipes are perfect for a 420-friendly St. Patrick’s Day party or a regular Saturday–the luck of the Irish is good anytime!

Grasshopper Shake

The Grasshopper is a mint chocolate chip-flavored bev created in New Orleans’ French Quarter at the dawn of the 1920s. Since then, Americans have been riffing on the flavor profile, from pies to milkshakes. This cannabis-infused Grasshopper Shake embodies the best of this classic cocktail with fresh ingredients.

  • 3 cups vanilla ice cream
  • ¼ cup lightly chopped fresh mint
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips
  • 5-10 mg THC powder

  • Blender

Add ingredients to the blender, or immersion blender container, and blend until smooth. If it’s too thick, add milk 1 TB at a time until the desired consistency is reached. Pour into a mason jar, pop in a straw, and enjoy. For a dairy-free version, substitute dairy-free ice cream, chocolate chips, and milk.

Liquid Marijuana Drink

Surprisingly, the classic Liquid Marijuana Drink recipe doesn’t contain any weed. GreenState fixed that, developing a new way to shake up the bright green mocktail using flavored cannabis seltzer and non-alcoholic tequila. This version has a lighter color but also a less saccharine flavor as it uses fresh honeydew juice rather than melon syrup.

  • ½ ounce blue curaçao syrup
  • ½ ounce Ritual zero-proof tequila
  • ½ ounce fresh honeydew juice
  • ½ ounce coconut water
  • 4 ounces pineapple juice
  • 8 ounces Happi Lime Mint (5 mg)
  • Squeeze of fresh lemon and lime

Add ingredients to the shaker with ice and shake until chilled. Pour into a highball glass and enjoy.

Cucumber Quencher

Cucumber, aloe vera, and mint are all great for staying hydrated. This green drink combines all three with an herbaceous cannabis seltzer in a weed drink, perfect for a sunny spring day.

  • 8-12 torn mint leaves
  • 1 ounce cucumber juice
  • 1 ounce aloe vera juice
  • 1 can Cann Lemon Lavender (2.5 mg)

Tear up, chop, and/or muddle mint leaves in a Collins Slim glass so that the green juices are coming out of the leaves. Pop a few ice cubes in. Add juices and seltzer, and stir. Garnish: for added flare, thinly slice a cucumber longways and press it horizontally against the side of the glass before adding ice.

Gin-less Basil Smash

This classic cocktail takes on an added weed twist in the Gin-less Basil Smash, which replaces Gin with Three Spirit Elixir and adds homemade THC syrup. An herbaceous, biting mocktail fit for any celebration but perfect in color for St. Patrick’s Day.

  • 12 fresh basil sprigs
  • ¾ fl. Oz lemon juice
  • 2 fl oz Three Spirit Social Elixir
  • ⅓ fl oz THC syrup

  • Cocktail shaker

Muddle basil leaves stem and all in the base of a cocktail shaker. Add all ingredients and ice, and shake. Fine strain into an ice-filled tumbler.

St. Patrick’s Day has a green theme, but that’s where the weed connection stops…for now.

Since drinks are a large part of the celebration, these green weed drink recipes fit effortlessly into any adult St. Paddy’s party. But as with all cannabis, whether it’s edible or smokeable, start low and go slow. Don’t overdo it.
