Puffco’s New Proxy brings Peak Pro power to your pocket

Puffco is a company known for innovation. Best known for its groundbreaking Peak e-rig, Puffco changed the way the world views hash. The addition of its modular Proxy device made enjoying concentrates even more convenient—and allowed users to customize their experience via a wide range of glass accessories. Now, Puffco is reinventing itself again, debuting a New Proxy designed to put even more power in people’s hands.

We got our hands on the New Proxy and compared to the OG, it’s definitely a step up. From more robust rips to advanced controls, this handheld dab device is the perfect marriage of performance and prestige. Want to know what sets the New Proxy apart from its predecessor? Read on to find out.

Puffco New Proxy – The Basics
Much like the original Proxy, the 2.0 version makes consuming cannabis concentrates a breeze. Simply place a pea-sized drop of your favorite wax, badder, or rosin into the bowl. Hold the button down to power on your device. Click it again to select from four preset temperatures:
Blue – 490 degrees Fahrenheit
Green – 510 degrees Fahrenheit
Red – 530 degrees Fahrenheit
White – 545 degrees Fahrenheit
The cooler temperatures will offer a more robust flavor, while hotter temperatures produce bigger vapor clouds. Once you’ve selected a temp, double-click to initiate your session. A light will flash, and the unit will vibrate when it hits your desired temperature.

At this point, inhale to your heart’s desire. The pre-set sessions last for 40 seconds. If you’re ready to tap out sooner, hold the button down. Want to keep the vapor rolling? Double-tap during the session to extend the time.
For hardcore dabbers who want the biggest rip possible, Easter egg mode is for you. While on the white setting, hit the button five times in rapid succession. This will increase the heat to a dizzying 630 degrees Fahrenheit. This expert-level move is adored by the hash elite, but should only be left to the pros, as a super hot dab can be far too powerful for entry-level folks.

When the session is over, gently wipe out any residue from the chamber using a cotton swab. You should also regularly clean the outside of the Proxy and the glass to prevent buildup using isopropyl alcohol. Do not submerge the Proxy in liquid; instead, wipe off excess oil and allow it to dry completely before using.
The New Proxy uses fast-charging USB-C and can be operated while plugged in. A fully charged device should provide approximately 15 dabs.

New Proxy vs OG Proxy
The New Proxy improves on the original in several ways. The first update is purely aesthetic: the latest iteration features a frosted matte glass pipe that feels more mature. It’s also taller and slimmer than its predecessor, but with a deeper 3D chamber for bigger dabs.
For folks who purchased an OG Proxy and one (or many) of its glass attachments, fear not: the New Proxy is compatible. You can easily switch between your old glass or grab one of the new releases, such as the old-school Wizard or the water-filtering Bubbler.

A standout new feature is the joystick carb cap, which comes standard on the Peak line of rigs. In addition to being super fun, the joystick provides better airflow and, with it, better hits. Another improvement is a larger power button, which helps users easily control the device.
Speaking of control: another major upgrade is connectivity to the Puffco app. Users can pair the device for even more customization features. Create your own sesh profiles by selecting the temp, the length of time, and even the color the device will flash. You can also track your dabs, monitor device performance, and check battery levels. Hash and/or tech nerds will love the data this app provides.

Want even more fun? Use mood lighting to create a light show sure to wow your crew. Select your favorite colors or upload a photo to pull inspiration from. You can also select from Puffco’s library of light shows, including a patriotic 4th of July setting or disco.

Android users can download the Puffco Connect app directly. Apple users will instead download something called the Path Browser and navigate to the Puffco.app site from there.
The only downside to the New Proxy is the case. The OG came in a zippered container that felt more portable and offered several spots for storage. The New Proxy comes in a box with a magnet closure, along with a smaller spot for your swabs and a jar or two. Consumers will likely consider upgrading to the Proxy Travel Bag for peak portability.
We also hoped the battery power would be improved, but given all the bells and whistles included in this new model, perhaps there simply wasn’t enough space for a larger power pack.

How does the New Proxy rip?
Now that you know about the unique updates to the New Proxy, you may be wondering how it hits. With more horsepower, this device definitely impressed the GreenState team. Even serious dabbers will get a kick from the New Proxy.
The white setting offers major clouds, and the joystick ensures maximum vapor production. The OG unit may have been better for tasting terps, but the New Proxy leaves its predecessor in the dust. A deeper chamber also means fatter dabs, which elite-level hashheads will surely appreciate.

It will take some stress-testing to know just how powerful the New Proxy really is, but initial impressions are for sure positive. At $250, the device is not exactly a bargain. But given all the updated features, it’s not an unreasonable cost. By comparison, Puffco’s flagship Peak runs $220 while the top-of-the-line Peak Pro is $420. The New Proxy is closer to the Peak Pro in terms of function, so when you crunch the numbers, it’s a pretty good deal.
Puffco continues to excite its fans with its updates and limited drops. For price-conscious people wanting the power of the Peak Pro in a more portable package, the New Proxy is the way to go.
