“Collaboration over competition”: Latinas in Cannabis Summit takes center stage
It’s officially Hispanic Heritage Month, and Latinas in Cannabis is putting the women who’ve been shaping the industry at the center of the conversation. The organization’s fourth annual summit will take place in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 26.
This year’s theme, “Collaboration over Competition,” officially kicks off on September 25 with a dinner that brings the idea of community to the table: a concept that is needed for any industry to thrive.

“This year’s theme really captures where we are right now,” Latinas in Cannabis founder Susie Plascencia told GreenState. “There’s a lot of uncertainty in cannabis right now, but there’s also tremendous power in bringing women together and choosing to open doors for one another.”
Welcome Dinner Kicks Off Festivities in Style
The private, invitation-only Friday night Welcome Dinner will honor the summit’s incoming speakers and gather founders, cultivators, creatives, and industry leaders. Three women chefs (Wendy Zeng, Paru Frances and Danielle Duran Zecca) have come together to create a collaborative menu drawing on their Chinese, Filipina and Chicana culinary perspectives.
The evening will also include cannabis and wine experiences and a fashion show spotlighting women-owned brands like Smoke Show Co., High on Plants and Ganja Chica, which were all recognized in GreenState’s Consumers’ Choice Awards. Guests will also be introduced to Latina cultivators Patricia of Sun Roots Farm and Mo of Sunbright Gardens through a gifting showcase presented by Cornerstone Wellness.

Latinas in Cannabis Summit Evolves
On Saturday, the celebration opens to the public. Summit doors open at 8 a.m., followed by a welcome ceremony at 9 a.m. and programming at 10 a.m.
The day’s sessions span the work of building a cannabis business: a first-ever Cannabis Journalism Panel will examine how the industry’s stories are told, while the CannaJefa panel will focus on entrepreneurship and executive leadership. An intellectual property and trademark workshop will also host practical guidance for founders, which you won’t want to miss.
At 1 p.m., a Women in Cultivation segment will recognize growers whose contributions tend to receive less attention than the brands their work supports. The afternoon will also feature a Latina Cannabis Influencer Panel and a live performance by Morena La Chingona: an especially fitting name for a weekend celebrating boss women who get things done.

Guests can also explore brand experiences throughout the venue and shop participating products through a summit menu from Catalyst, powered by Stash Dash Delivery.
Plascencia launched Latinas in Cannabis in 2020 to create greater visibility and opportunity for Latinas in the industry. This year’s gathering is proud to welcome Filipina voices, expanding the weekend’s spirit of collaboration to even more communities.
Along with the celebration, the event aims to help attendees leave with practical knowledge, build new relationships, and gain a clearer view of the women who’ve always been behind the plant.
“That’s what I want people to feel when they walk into the Summit this year—not just that they were represented, but that they belong here, that their work matters, and that there is room for all of us to build,” Plascencia explained.
The summit takes place in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 26. Tickets are available online. Friday’s dinner is invitation-only.
