Lume Cannabis Co. plans to open its 27th Michigan store Friday in Mount Pleasant after the company hit a milestone of hiring its 1,000th employee on Oct. 25.

The store is located at 901 E. Broomfield and is slated to open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.

“From hiring our 1,000th employee to opening more than a dozen stores, 2021 has been a fantastic year of growth for Lume Cannabis Co. and we look forward to continuing this success for years to come,” said Doug Hellyar, president and COO of Lume, in a press release. “At Lume, we pride ourselves on offering an unmatched variety of safe and high-quality THC and CBD products, and we are excited to introduce our brand, the many wellness and other benefits of cannabis and show cannabis in a new light to more adult-use consumers in mid-Michigan.”

At the store opening Friday, all products are 20% off storewide and the first 100 customers to make a purchase will receive a free Lume swag bag. Customers placing an order of $50 or more will receive their choice of a free 0.7-gram pre-roll or 2-pack of Lume edibles, according to the store.

Lume products are produced without harmful chemicals and go through the most rigorous testing in the industry to ensure they meet the highest standards for quality and safety, according to the release.

Additionally, this year, Lume has opened 14 adult-use stores and is on track to open more before 2021 ends. The ambitious effort is part of Lume’s goal of having 100 adult-use stores open throughout Michigan by 2024.

“Lume is a Michigan-born company, and our number one goal is serving the cannabis needs of every Michigander, regardless of where they live,” Hellyar said in the release. “We take great pride in giving back to the communities we serve, creating jobs and providing much-needed tax revenue to local municipalities to fix roads, hire first responders and support local schools.”
