Psilocybin (aka magic mushrooms) is becoming more common as communities enact drug policy reform and research increases. From Silicon Valley entrepreneurs to suburban parents, ‘shrooms are increasingly visible in mainstream culture. Reality star and makeup mogul Kylie Jenner is the latest to share about her mushroom experience.

On a recent episode of the Better Half with Stas and Vic podcast, the model revealed she tried magic mushrooms “once.” It just so happened to be at host Stassie Karanikolaou’s party.

“I took shrooms, and I went to Stas’s event,” Jenner said.

The experience was a roller coaster of emotions, with the star saying she couldn’t stop crying—but not out of sadness or despair.

“I was laughing crying because someone came to ask me a question, and I thought it was really funny, and I couldn’t stop laughing, and I cried off all my makeup,” Jenner explained.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians fixture added that the tears left her face in shambles.

“I went to the bathroom, and I looked like the most craziest version of myself,” she said.

Jenner said she had to leave the party after that.

One planned trip, one accidental—both went sideways

Taking too many magic mushrooms can quickly derail a night—but unknowingly consuming psychedelics is a different risk.

In a related story, actress and singer Zoe Kravitz said she accidentally gave friends psilocybin. The star had unlabeled mushroom chocolate in her refrigerator, leading some houseguests to consume it unknowingly.

“My friend came to visit me from Paris and went into my fridge when I wasn’t there,” Kravitz told her Caught Stealing co-star Austin Butler. “I had to leave work and take care of her.”

The situation unfolded again soon after with another friend, leading Kravitz to finally properly label her ‘shrooms.

Psychedelics like psilocybin are becoming more mainstream, with plenty of celebrities sharing their experiences. While psilocybin remains illegal at the federal level, changing laws and attitudes have made more people willing to speak openly about using it.
