Dry herb vaporizers are becoming increasingly popular in the cannabis community. The devices heat weed without burning, offering a cleaner alternative for folks who want the instant effects of inhalation without the gross by-products of combustion. With so many different dry herb vapes on the market, the GreenState team is reviewing as many as possible. The latest one we tried? The POTV Xmax V3 Pro vaporizer.

POTV (short for Planet of the Vapes) is an online retailer that has ventured into the device market. They teamed up with hardware maker Xmax for a collab that offers consumers big power on a budget. Straightforward and easy to use, the POTV Xmax V3 Pro is a perfect entry point into the dry herb vape lifestyle.

POTV Xmax V3 Pro vaporizer: how it works

The V3 Pro is fairly simple in its design. Pop off the magnetic mouthpiece and place your ground cannabis inside the chamber. Be careful not to overfill the chamber or pack too tightly, as you may restrict airflow. Use the included dosing capsule for a convenient filling option.

Press the main button on the front three times to power the device on and off. A digital display will show your current battery level, temperature setting, and mode. Convection technology ensures your flower is heated evenly.

In Session mode, the device automatically heats to your chosen temperature. On demand mode allows you to press and hold the power button to reach temp on your own time.

To toggle between the two modes, press the two small buttons below the digital display at the same time. Individually, these buttons offer custom temperature control with a range of 212°F to 428°F.

In either mode, a coffee cup icon flashes on the screen while the POTV Xmax V3 Pro heats up. Once at temp, you’ll feel a vibration. In Session mode, a four-minute countdown clock will begin. You can always end the sesh early by turning the unit off.

Once at the desired temperature, inhale from the mouthpiece. When you’ve gotten your fill, you can power the device down or let it idle (it will shut off automatically when the session ends). In On Demand mode, a standby countdown clock gives you 120 seconds to fire the device up before it automatically powers down.

Allow the device to cool down before removing the spent bud inside. The cleaning brush included in the package makes removing any debris easy. There are also extra screens, should you need them. The USB-C charging cable gets your V3 Pro juiced up in no time.

If you want to customize your experience further, several glass add-ons are available (sold separately). These include a water-pipe adapter and mini bubblers.

Honest thoughts on the V3 Pro

The POTV Xmax V3 Pro vaporizer is a great option for people wanting to try out a dry herb vape without spending an arm and a leg. At only $109.95, the device is relatively affordable compared to its competitors. While it lacks the bells and whistles of other devices, it performs decently enough.

We liked the sleek design of the Xmax V3 Pro and the fast heat-up time. Once the unit was on, it reached temp in just a few seconds. The battery life is also solid.

The flavor was decent at the higher temperatures, and while a bit lackluster, it did produce small clouds. At lower temperatures, both flavor and vapor production were lacking. We had to crank the device all the way up to get a rip. Cloud chasers may find it underwhelming.

Overall, we recommend the POTV Xmax V3 Pro vaporizer for cannabis beginners or people considering switching from combustion to vaping. The low price point is relatively accessible, and the straightforward design is great for someone testing the waters of the dry herb vape lifestyle. More advanced consumers or people seeking big clouds will likely want to invest in a device with more power and performance.
