The modern marijuana market has seemingly endless choices. Many dispensary menus feature dozens of strains, offering a wide variety that appeals to all types of smokers. But certain varieties just hit different, creating unmatched buzz among consumers. One example is the Blue Lobster strain.

On a recent trip to New York, we kept hearing about Blue Lobster. Staff at several dispensaries explained they couldn’t keep the indica-leaning hybrid strain on the shelf, consistently selling out every batch. While some consumers may believe the hype strain is overrated, the sales data doesn’t match the sentiment.

What makes the Blue Lobster strain such a weed powerhouse? Read on to find out.

Blue Lobster strain genetics

Blue Lobster was created by breeders at Maine Trees, using a cross of Compound Genetics’ Apples & Bananas and Eye Candy. Ancestors of the variety include GSC (Girl Scout Cookies), Master Kush, and The White.

The terpene profile of Blue Lobster can vary based on the phenotype, but it tends to produce citrusy limonene, herbaceous myrcene, peppery caryophyllene, and floral linalool. The result is a robust aroma, rich with tart fruit and notes of gas, earth, candy, and mint. Blue Lobster won Gassiest Flower and Best Terps at the 2023 East Coast Zalympix, likely contributing to the consumer craze.

Much like terpenes, the cannabinoid content will depend on how the plant is grown. But you can expect THC levels to be anywhere from 25-35 percent. Recent batches have tested around 29 percent THC, including versions from Electra Leaf and Doobie Labs

The Blue Lobster experience

In addition to the incredibly powerful aroma, the potent high Blue Lobster delivers makes it a fan favorite. Reviews say it offers the perfect blend of joy and relaxation, minus the couchlock. The euphoric, Zen-like effects are great at any time of day, offering a serious buzz that still keeps you productive. One consumer proclaimed Blue Lobster to be “the best cannabis I have ever had in my entire life.”

In its home state of Maine, some reviewers contend Blue Lobster is overrated, but many insist it’s worthy of the acclaim. The original poster of this thread said the version they procured “slaps,” breaking through their high tolerance for THC.

In New York, where GreenState had heard all the hype, smokers were stocking up (hence the team’s inability to procure a jar). In this thread, one commentator urged, “If you can find Blue Lobster in the NY system, absolutely buy it.”

Blue Lobster strain – the East Coast’s hype weed

Every so often, a weed strain comes along that takes the cannabis community by storm. For East Coast stoners, Blue Lobster is the “it” jar of the moment. Whether it’s the super loud terps or the pleasant yet powerful high, the hybrid is flying off the shelves left and right. While some may think it’s unworthy of the hype, there’s clearly a reason it continues to sell out.
