The top mushroom podcast & newsletters to follow in 2026

mushroom podcast

When I was first starting the Mycopreneur Podcast in 2020, one of the first things I did was go online and research which mushroom podcasts were already out in the world. To my surprise, only a handful of shows registered.

It was early in the Pandemic, and the ‘Shroom Boom’ was just starting to take off. In the six years since then, the mushroom media landscape has grown considerably, with an ever-expanding index of new podcasts and newsletters run by diligent professionals with a keen focus on creating accessible and engaging educational and promotional content focusing on fungi.

Mushrooms have continued to surge in profile and now represent two of the top five most used ‘psychedelics’ in the United States according to a report published by the RAND Corporation global think tank in January of 2026 – Psilocybin mushrooms are the top used psychedelic in the U.S., with an estimated 11 million adults consuming them last year, while Amanita muscaria mushrooms also cracked the top five with 3.5 million people consuming them in 2025.

While mainstream media coverage of mushrooms has seen a massive uptick in recent years, the coverage is scattered and often homogenous across platforms, with a focus on state policy developments and clinical psilocybin use. To really keep one’s finger on the pulse of what’s actually happening in the mycoverse, the best bet is to direct attention towards the growing number of dedicated mushroom podcasts and newsletters that are actively covering the space. Here are a number of currently active, key contributors to the mushroom media landscape.

Top Mushroom Podcasts

Amanita Effect Podcast

The Amanita Effect is the only podcast dedicated to covering the science, history, and anecdotal experiences of people with the psychoactive Amanita muscaria mushroom. Host Christian Rasmussen is the founder of Amentara, one of the largest importers and distributors of the fabled red and white mushroom in the United States. Amanita muscaria has been trending massively upwards thanks to its omission from the Controlled Substances Act, distinguishing it as a ‘legal magic mushroom’.

In the recent RAND report on psychedelic use in the United States published in January 2026, Amanita muscaria was ranked as one of the top five most used psychedelics in the United States. The Amanita Effect Podcast is one of the only dedicated media platforms covering this enigmatic and enchanted fungus and the people who consume it.

Flora Funga Podcast

Flora Funga Podcast is one of the most active and prolific podcasts covering mushroom science with an emphasis on bridging the gap between plants, fungi, and humans. Host Kaitlyn Kuehn, known to listeners and friends as ‘KK’, draws from her experience as a plant biologist with a professional background that includes a previous stint working at the Mayo Clinic to provide a well-informed, science-forward lens for connecting with the mushroom kingdom. With over 200 episodes and counting published across platforms, Flora Funga Podcast has definitively carved out its own lane in the growing mushroom media space.
