America’s favorite weed strains revealed

Polled cannabis consumers recently revealed their favorite strains, and they are rooted more in weed history than the new releases lists. The Sanctuary Wellness Institute polled 1000 cannabis consumers about their buying preferences. This included the top three favorite strains right now. Nearly one in three people said choosing a strain is too complicated, but they will probably buy these three.

Blue Dream is still the most popular weed strain among consumers. OG Kush is the second most loved, followed by Gorilla Glue in third. Strains are considered more important than the brand to 71 percent of respondents.

People either based their decisions on budtender recommendations (37 percent), their dealer’s advice (27 percent), online reviews (45 percent), or word of mouth (59 percent). One in six of the polled group uses social media or cannabis apps to find new strains.

As for what consumers want from their weed, 64 percent sought out mental effects, 57 percent were after physical feelings it could create, and 45 percent selected flower based on flavor and/or aroma. Boomers leaned more towards indica, along with 34 percent of those polled. Gen X, Gen Z, and Millennials opted for hybrids along with 38 percent of the group. No one generation preferred sativa, but 28 percent of people polled did.
