Like many good things, weed is written in the stars.

A lot of celebrities are cannabis-enthusiasts, and though some keep it quiet, others have become walking symbols of marijuana magic – sharing their stories of using it for anything from curing quarantine boredom to curbing addiction. Just like us… but with a lot more people listening.

These are GreenState’s favorite celeb cannabis connoisseurs.

Seth Rogan

It’s no secret this comedian loves weed. The Pineapple Express star and producer co-founded a cannabis line with Even Goldberg, another producer of the acclaimed stoner-flick, and speaks openly about his passion for cannabis at every opportunity. When asked how he passed his time in quarantine in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Rogan said he dove into his two hobbies: pottery and pot.

“I smoked a truly ungodly amount of weed in the time that I was in quarantine,” Rogan said. “We are not all in this together, because this has not been that bad for me.”

If there’s a right way to do 2020, Rogan may just have found it.

Snoop Dogg

This rapper and cannabis go together like butter on bread – so much so that the longtime smoker has a strain named after him. He also launched his own cannabis line, “Leafs by Snoop,” and is known for giving other celebrities sage advice on how to best consume cannabis, including chef extraordinaire Martha Stewart. In a recent interview with Howard Stern (which also featured pot-loving comedian Seth Rogan), he recommended first-time smokers start with half a hit of sativa. Thanks, Dogg.

Not only is Snoop Dogg a wealth of canna-wisdom, he is also an outspoken advocate for marijuana legalization. The rapper proposed a minority clause be added to marijuana legislation measures, and has championed federal legalization in both the U.S. and Canada, calling for policy makers to drop criminalization like it’s hot.

Kylie Jenner

You might have heard a lot of buzz about Kendall Jenner’s newfound stoner-dom, but let’s not forget which Jenner was the original cannabis user. The billionaire social media influencer posted this picture smoking a joint in 2017, and has since promoted CBD companies on her accounts, scoring these businesses followers and, we assume, a LOT of dough.

Amy Schumer

Schumer started speaking openly about her experience with cannabis when, in 2016, she referred to herself as the “worst dealer ever” in her book The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo. In an interview with Howard Stern, the comedian said, “I was the worst drug dealer. I would run out of the little bags, so I would just use a huge Hefty bag.”

While she may not be the most gifted dealer, we have a feeling she’d be an incredible smoking buddy.

Chelsea Handler

This girl has her priorities straight.

The comedian and former talk show host announced last year that she is turning a new leaf by founding a cannabis line for women – a rare thing in an intensely male-dominated field. Though the brand has yet to hit shelves, Handler has been speaking out more than ever about her passion for cannabis lately, using her voice as an activist to challenge marijuana stereotypes. While onstage speaking at a Canndescent vape pen launch last year, The Hollywoord Reporter quoted Handler as saying, “You’re not a stoner just because you get high. Do you know how much sh*t I get done?”

It was high time someone came up with a comeback like that.

Lady Gaga

Always down to get personal with fans, this pop icon has spoken candidly about her cannabis journey. But what sets Gaga apart from other stars is her journey with cannabis hasn’t always been rainbows and sunshine.

Gaga told People she used to smoke 15 to 20 joints a day to cope with hip pain and the stress of celebrity, and began advocating for safe cannabis use after realizing she was addicted. In a 2013 interview with Elvis Duran, she said, “I do think it’s the best of the drugs to choose from when you’re playing around and experimenting. I just want young kids to know that you actually can become addicted to it. There’s this sentiment that you can’t, and that’s actually not true because I have been addicted to it.”

Today, the singer uses cannabis for fun, according to an interview with Attitude, but not as a coping mechanism, saying “that’s the difference.”

Willie Nelson

One of the most avid weed-fanatics of all, Willie Nelson told Rolling Stone last year, “Weed saved my life,” referencing his experience using cannabis to curb his addictions.

“I used to smoke two or three packs of cigarettes a day and drink whatever was there to drink,” Nelson explained in an interview with Jimmy Fallon. “I almost died. So I threw out the cigarettes, rolled up 20 joints, and I haven’t smoked a cigarette since.”

Now, the 87-year-old country music star is the founder and self-proclaimed “chief tester” of his own cannabis line, Willie’s Reserve, and (though he uses cannabis less these days because of his age) he remains a staunch advocate for federal marijuana legalization. Talk about a glow up!
