Herbs, spices, and flower: this chef cannabis collab is available now

Arizona Bacanora cannabis collaboration

The worlds of cannabis and culinary arts are colliding in the latest innovative industry collaboration. Arizona brand Tumble dropped a limited edition strain, Puro Amor, in collaboration with Bacanora chef Rene “Chito” Andrade. The industry has seen chef collabs in the edibles scene, but this is seemingly the first strain partnership with a culinary star.

“Cannabis for me, is like, something that I try to see as meditation in a sense. Turn it off and relax, that last breath of things. That’s what it is for me,” Andrade shared in a video interview obtained by GreenState. “The flavor for Puro Amor, I wanted to make it a bit more specific down to what Sonoran roots would be, right? A little citrusy here ang there from all our beautiful citrus round here in the valley. Create a flavor that we can actually (say) ‘This is how Arizona would taste’.”

Puro Amor is a pre-roll made with Flow, an even hybrid that reminds Chef Rene of the state it’s grown in. The joints will be available at select Arizona dispensaries starting Friday, October 13th.

Bacanora is the chef’s first restaurant, the downtown Phoenix kitchen specializes in Sonoran-style cuisine. Guests watch as the crew commands an open flame in the middle of the open kitchen, charring elote and spatchcocked chicken.

“Chef Rene has created such a welcoming culture at Bacanora that makes it feel like you are going to visit your family and enjoy a fantastic meal together. We are thrilled to partner with Rene on the Tumble Puro Amor strain because he puts love into everything he creates,” Kyle Webb, Timeless vice president of marketing said to GreenState.

Timeless also commands a flame but wields it differently. The Arizona cannabis brand is part of the Timeless family of brands. Timeless was founded on easy-to-use discreet consumption, and the hidden flip case battery remains a flagship product.

Tumble is the arm of the brand that carries pre-rolls like the mini-joints of Puro Amor. This may be the first Timeless collab with a chef, but the brand has been teaming up with artists for some time.

Timeless Vapes recently launched an Artist Legacy Collaboration with Arizona-based surreal artist Ashley Macias. Macias works mostly in paint, using psychedelic and surreal elements in murals. But the artists designed the cover of a limited-edition flip case.

“The inspiration behind my Timeless flip case was meant to be fun and free-spirited, reflecting elements of my surreal art and my story,” Macias said in a press release. “I’m so excited to collaborate on a product I can stand behind while showcasing my art on something I believe in and love.”

This is the sixth release of the Timeless Artist Legacy series, so perhaps this is just the beginning of culinary collaborations from the cannabis brand. Collaboration between trending chefs and cannabis companies is a delicious step towards normalization in Arizona.

“Everything I create, I create it with the intention that someone else feels that love. That’s why for me, it’s so important to have the phase Puro Amor, because I want them to believe that. I want it to be all love, man. I want it to be all love, and that’s why I love that,” Andrade concluded in the video interview.
