Dab emoji for low-key texts

dab emoji

There’s not much in cannabis culture that people can agree upon. Consumers like their own strains and have their own consumption methods. There are preferred dab rigs and subjectively superior cannabis accessories. But something everyone who loves the plant can attest to is that there needs to be an emoji for weed. While they’re at it, let’s add a dab emoji too.

Dabs vs. The Dab

While stoners immediately hear the sound of a firing torch or picture a dab tool scooping live resin, most people think of the dance move. Turns out the two aren’t that far apart, to begin with.

While the literal motion of dabbing was introduced to the culture in the 1990s as a “Sentai move” performed by Goku in the popular kids show Dragon Ball Z. By the late 2000s, dabs had gotten more prominent in cannabis culture alongside hip-hop group Migos.

Migos is known for loving cannabis, which has led many to speculate that the move comes from the heavy coughing that a fat dab can inspire. But all the members of Migos mocked Lil Bow Wow when he shared that info.

Even though cannabis may not be at the root of this dance’s origins, they share one thing. There’s no emoji for either. Let’s look at some available emojis that can be appropriated by the dabbing community.

The honey pot dab emoji

Dab emoji

Most cannabis connoisseurs will know what a honey pot emoji means when it pops up in a text thread. Some cannabis concentrates are thick and sappy like honey, making this a great emoji to keep the sesh on the down low.

Ballpoint pen dab emoji

Vape and dab pens are all the rage with consumers on the go. Don’t underestimate the ballpoint pen emoji when explaining to the group chat you’ll have the pen (whichever one) at the kickback.

Diamond dab emoji

Like the honey pot, the shining blue diamond emoji refers to the type of concentrate someone might be dabbing. Live resin and diamonds are sought out by many. It’s likely that the sesh group will come running when this dab emoji hits the thread.

Statue of Liberty

Dab emoji

Though a bit more of an inside reference, the Statue of Liberty emoji does relate to dabbing, at least for people not using an e-rig. Lighting the torch to heat up an analog dab rig would make anyone feel like the torch-wielding American icon. What better dab emoji to signify you’re serving up fresh extracts?

Face with spiral eyes

Most dab emojis on this list speak to the process of dabbing, but the Face with spiral eyes perfectly signifies those first few minutes after the inhale. Send this emoji face to show how you’re trying to feel after the planned sesh or to explain that you just took a fat dab.

While the world patiently waits for any emoji explicitly signifying the cannabis plant, aficionados must get creative. These dab emojis should be the perfect addition to the stoned group chat.
