Granny’s launches live resin seltzers: these drinks hit different

Cannabis beverages have exploded in popularity. The convenient and tasty alcohol alternatives are seemingly everywhere, delighting consumers seeking a simple and refreshing way to catch a buzz.

Granny’s, the creators of the beloved infused pretzels that have captivated cannabis enthusiasts in Minnesota and beyond, are now venturing into the realm of cannabis drinks. Granny’s team of renowned trailblazers have elevated their unique flavor profiles even further with this new venture.

The brand has teamed with popular craft brewer Bent Paddle on their new line of novel seltzers. Infused with live resin CBD, Granny’s drinks are unique to the booming cannabis beverage market thanks to their source material.

Incorporating live resin into the formula ensures a truly authentic cannabis flavor. The extract retains a higher concentration of active plant ingredients than the typical distillate ingredient. This characteristic has been notably absent within the realm of hemp-derived beverages, making it a game-changer for those seeking a more traditional and robust cannabis experience.

“We wanted to create a beverage experience that feels more authentic than what’s currently available,” explained Thomas Thorpe, founder of Granny’s, in an email to GreenState. “We’re consumers ourselves, and it was important for us to formulate a beverage for those who share the same passion for cannabis.”

How is live resin different from distillate?

Live resin starts with flash-frozen buds that are freshly harvested. The active ingredients are separated from the buds using specialized equipment resulting in a thick, amber oil that retains many of the best components within the plant.

Distillates are typically extracted via CO2 or ethanol and further refined to create a potent but bland concentrated cannabis oil. This process strips the oil of its terpenes, which are responsible for the distinct aroma, flavor, and effects.

Unlike live resin, distillate is made from cannabis material that has been dried and cured and does not always use freshly harvested material.

The brand has partnered with well-known extraction and formulation experts at Superior Molecular to source the cannabinoid kick in its drinks. Superior Molecular is trusted by several prominent Minnesota brewers in a variety of drinkable and edible cannabinoid collaborations.

“We’re really excited about our new partnership with Granny’s Edibles,” John Dugas, founder of Superior Molecular, told GreenState. “This brand has won the hearts of Minnesotans through its sweet and savory innovations, and we couldn’t be more excited to help bring it to life in liquid form.”

Three flavor profiles make for perfect pot pairings

Granny’s live resin beverages come in three tantalizing flavors that will drive your taste buds wild. Every 12oz can contains 10mg THC and 10mg live resin CBD for perfectly balanced effects.

Orange Sunshine delivers a delightful dose of vibrant citrus flavors complemented by a subtle grapefruit undertone. Purple Rain offers an extraordinary fusion of blackberry, black cherry, and lemonade for a truly invigorating experience. Completing the assortment is White Lightning, an exhilarating burst of zesty lemon and crisp lime.

New gummies round out Granny’s updated collection

The new live resin drinks aren’t the only addition, the brand is also introducing gummies to its coveted collection.

Available in Orange Creamsicle, Rainbow Sherbet, Watermelon Cucumber, Cherry, and Strawberry Kiwi, these delicious confections contain 5mg of hemp-derived delta-9 THC per piece. With these sweet additions, Granny’s seeks to appeal to the broadest audience possible in the Minnesota market and beyond.

“We are sincerely thankful for our devoted fan base,” said Thorpe. “It is our utmost pleasure to continue satisfying with our wide range of flavors and innovations.”

All of Granny’s products are available for purchase online and in select retailers across Minnesota. Just remember to enjoy responsibly, as the enticing flavors may make it easy to forget their infused nature.

The launch of the new Granny’s SKUs comes as Minnesota anxiously awaits the launch of adult-use cannabis. While the law takes effect August 1st, it could be over a year until dispensaries open up. Cannabis fans in the state can chill with Granny’s in the meantime.
