The power of female mentorship in the cannabis industry

GreenState regularly shares contributor perspectives on the industry and trends. The ideas expressed here are wholly those of their author and do not necessarily reflect those of GreenState’s newsroom.
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the powerful women who poured into me, and now, it’s my mission to pay that forward.
Whether you’re starting a business, shifting careers, or just trying to figure out your next step, one thing is true: you need people in your corner. Women lifting up other women isn’t just feel-good talk; it’s a real, practical force in building success.
That’s why I believe in mentorship. Not just having a mentor, but being one.

Why Mentorship Matters
We all start somewhere. When I launched my first business, I didn’t have a playbook. What I had was life experience, a heart for helping others, and a willingness to learn. I’ve been blessed to have strong women guide me, encourage me, and challenge me to dream bigger.
Mentors give us something priceless: perspective. They’ve been through it, they’ve made the mistakes, and they know what it takes to keep going when things get hard. And when you find the right mentor, you gain more than business advice; you gain confidence.
But here’s the flip side: being a mentor is just as powerful. It’s about turning around and reaching back. Sharing what you’ve learned. Helping someone else step into their purpose. There’s nothing more rewarding than watching another woman win, knowing you played a part in her growth.

A Sisterhood of Strength
At this point in my journey, mentorship is built into everything I do. Whether it’s through my businesses, my nonprofit work, or just everyday conversations, I am always looking for ways to uplift and empower other women.
That’s why I’m so excited about events like Boss to Bosses in New Mexico. A space where women from all backgrounds can come together, share their stories, and build each other up. No competition. Just connection. Real talk. Real support.
These are the rooms we need to be in. These are the conversations that change lives.
Keep It Real, Keep It Moving
Mentorship isn’t about having all the answers but about showing up and genuinely caring for the success of another individual. It’s about being honest about the hard stuff, celebrating the wins, and walking beside someone as they figure it out.
And if you’re thinking, “Well, I’m not successful enough to be a mentor yet,” let me stop you right there. If you’ve been through anything such as a rough season, a failed idea, or a breakthrough moment, you’ve got something to give.
Success isn’t just about titles or bank accounts. It’s about impact. It’s about the lives you touch along the way.
So don’t wait. Find your mentor. Be a mentor. And watch how everything around you starts to grow.

A Driving Force
I work tirelessly to mentor and inspire others to create their own opportunities, and I find it extremely rewarding.
After researching the benefits of cannabis, I experimented with CBD and THC in soaps and creams. In doing this, I was able to help a young patient’s chemically burned face heal with less pain. When her skin healed with an amazing new glow, I knew I needed to create a new business using cannabis to help others improve their health and well-being with natural, plant-based ingredients.
I have integrated my purpose with profit by creating businesses driven by giving. My companies, 420 Skincare and 420 Medibles, are on a mission to give back to the community by helping people heal naturally without opioid pharmaceuticals.
We dedicate a portion of our sales to helping those with mental health conditions and substance use disorders by reintroducing patients to clean living. We do our best to not only lead by example but to lend a hand to the underserved in the communities we serve. This driving force of giving has made a significant difference in our profits and the continued success of our business.
Find Your Purpose
What is most important is finding a cause that has deep meaning for you and your team. Social entrepreneurship strengthens communities by helping the at-risk and underserved in a more sustainable way than traditional philanthropic efforts and offers a uniquely rewarding way to boost the bottom line.
My business model of giving and helping others has boosted my success and bottom line in many ways, and I know it can do the same for you. Your business can be a force for good. Find your purpose, take action, and create a lasting impact.
