Popular cannabis media and events platform reignites with ‘laser focus’

speaker at conference IgniteIt splits from Benzinga

One of the top cannabis business events and media platforms in the country has a new name—and even more potential. IgniteIt, formerly known as Benzinga Cannabis, is going out on its own. The company will retain the same core team, but it’s now independent of the mainstream financial news site where it got its start.

IgniteIt retains ownership over several products: the Cannabis Daily newsletter (and its related editorial archives), the Cannabis Market Spotlight event series, and the flagship Cannabis Capital Conference. The latter is among the most popular business-to-business events in the space, bringing together investors and entrepreneurs in cities like Miami and Chicago. The IgniteIt team is planning three more Cannabis Market Spotlight events for 2025, set to be announced soon.

“Fifteen years ago, I started Benzinga with a mission to empower investors with better information,” said Jason Raznick, Chairman of IgniteIt, in a press release. “Now, with IgniteIt, I’m thrilled to help build something new again – this time with a laser focus on emerging industries like cannabis.”

Joining Raznick at IgniteIt are former Benzinga execs Patrick Lane, Elliot Lane, and Javier Hasse, who will serve as CEO, president and CRO, and co-founder, respectively.

According to the release, the newly formed IgniteIt will have four core sectors:

  • Capturing the Moment, which focuses on relevant and fast-paced editorial coverage of cannabis and other emerging industries.
  • Where Deals Get Done focuses on events that drive impact and deal flow.
  • Strategic Insight & Advocacy, which ensures event programming is curated to provide actionable insights led by the top minds in the space.
  • Exclusive Access, Open Doors ensures a solid mix of executives, entrepreneurs, and visionaries are in the right place at the right time.

The IgniteIt split will ensure the cannabis vertical gets all the attention it needs, especially at a time of rapid growth and ever-evolving policy.

“For almost a decade, we’ve built credibility in this space. With IgniteIt, we’re bringing together journalism and events to help build an industry that’s ethical, inclusive, and built to last,” Hasse concluded in the release.
