The country music legend and owner of the recreational marijuana company Wilie’s Reserve visited the Tonight Show this week to explain to host Jimmy Fallon why Willie has the best pot on the market.

Nelson revealed that he personally consumes all of his products before they’re approved.

“[I’m] chief tester,” he said, adding, “I haven’t run across any that I didn’t like.”

The two went deeper into Nelson’s affinity for marijuana, as he is featured in Rolling Stone’s “Weed Issue.”

The 86-year-old songwriter admitted that his life may have been cut short if he had not replaced alcohol and tobacco with cannabis.

“I used to smoke two or three packs of cigarettes a day and drink whatever there was there to drink,” Nelson recalls. “I had pneumonia four or five times, my lung collapsed. I almost died. Nelson capped off his appearance with a cover performance of Guy Clark’s “My Favorite Picture of You,” to promote the release of his 69th studio album, Ride Me Back Home.
